Maidstone Borough Council wants to dump 2000+ houses on agricultural land at Lidsing.
If this is allowed to go ahead, it will severely affect everyone who lives in Lidsing, Hempstead, Lordswood, Walderslade, Rainham, Parkwood, Bredhurst and Boxley.
All local communities will be overwhelmed.
Traffic from 2000+ houses will bring misery to all roads in the area, possibly 4000 extra cars/10,000 extra car journeys a day.
Although the development falls within Maidstone BC, it will be up to Medway Council to provide all facilities including GPs, schools, hospital services etc.
All services in MEDWAY will be stretched to breaking point.
Medway Council are strongly opposed to the development.
Destruction of the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in Bredhurst.
Loss of the Strategic Gap between Lordswood, Hempstead and Bredhurst.
Ecological effects including orchids, migrating birds, badgers and bats.
Effect on local Grade II Listed buildings.
Loss of agricultural land which could be profitably farmed.
This would set a precedent for other greenfield sites to be built on when they should remain protected.
